ACACIA KEISTER, LPC

Acacia Keister is a Licensed Professional Counselor experienced in treating those struggling with: depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, difficulties with adjustments or transitions, ADHD or behavioral challenges throughout the life span. Acacia has worked with those as young as 5 years old to adulthood in a variety of settings. Her diverse experience includes providing individual, family and group therapy in preschools, Partial Hospitalization Programs, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient mental health settings. When working with children and adolescents, Acacia has found that familial support is key in helping a child heal and make positive changes while they are in therapy. Thus, she strongly encourages parents and/or guardians to be actively engaged in the treatment. When working with her clients, particularly adolescents, Acacia believes that using non-judgmental regard, warmth and humor are invaluable to building a trusting and positive therapeutic relationship which is the precursor to change.

Acacia holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College where she specialized in child and adolescent psychology. While she has extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, she believes it is important to adapt her approach to therapy to best fit the needs of her clients. To ensure the best outcome in treatment, Acacia often adopts an eclectic approach that draws from a variety of theoretical orientations including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy. She also places an emphasis on practicing mindfulness to improve self-regulation and refocus on one’s present tasks and goals. Acacia strongly believes that building a therapeutic relationship with her clients based on trust and empowerment helps individuals to create the changes they desire.
