SARAH BAURER, M.A.

Sarah Baurer earned her Master’s in Clinical Counseling from La Salle University where she focused her studies on individual counseling throughout the lifespan. She specializes in treating individuals of all ages with anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional dysregulation, adjustment and transition difficulties, and bereavement.

Sarah, through her training with a neuropsychologist and neurologist, also specializes in treating individuals who have suffered a concussion or traumatic brain injury. She has worked extensively with clients presenting with traumatic brain injury using EEG technology to identify and treat resulting cognitive disorders. Sarah believes that combining established treatment approaches through traditional psychotherapy (talk-therapy) with multiple forms of neurofeedback is crucial for TBI sufferers.  She has treated young children, adolescents, and adults with these methods to aid in their recovery and help process their injuries on bodily, mental, and relational levels.

Sarah has worked in a variety of settings including a partial hospital, an intensive outpatient program, a women’s domestic abuse center, children’s bereavement groups, as well as within a group private practice.  This has allowed her to become experienced in one-on-one therapy and with groups.

When working with any client, she believes that a holistic approach, focusing on both the physical and psychological, is vital to reaching each client’s therapeutic goals.  She is skilled at adapting her approach to best meet the needs of her clients and incorporates modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, insight-oriented therapy, conflict resolution, supportive therapy, solution-focused therapy, as well as play therapy.  Sarah believes that building a healthy and well-established support network is essential and likes to incorporate family members if the client so chooses.  She feels strongly that a valuable therapeutic relationship is built upon establishment of trust through empathetic support and confidence-building.  She comes from a place of respect with every client and feels that the use of warmth, humor, and positivity are essential to working toward the client’s goals and desired changes.
