Practitioner Name: Kristin Heaney
Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Kristin obtained her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and her master’s degree from Fordham University in New York. With extensive experience in women’s mental health, she provides individual therapy for young adults and adults, specializing in anxiety treatment, depression therapy, postpartum depression support, substance use counseling, and co-occurring disorders.
She has spent several years working with women in postpartum recovery and with pregnant women struggling with addiction, giving her deep insight into the unique challenges women face in daily life. Kristin’s goal is to create a compassionate, welcoming environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. She strongly believes in validating concerns and creating actionable steps for overcoming adversity, ultimately fostering self-awareness, emotional regulation, and healthy coping skills.
In addition to her focus on women’s health, Kristin has spent the past four years providing school-based mental health services to students and families. She has supported individuals facing housing instability, mental health crises, school attendance challenges, and other life stressors. She also has extensive experience working with students with IEP/504 plans, helping them manage academic demands while navigating the transition from high school to adulthood.
Through this work, Kristin has observed a critical gap in services for adolescents and families during transitional periods, and she is passionate about bridging that need. She uses a client-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique needs and goals. Kristin firmly believes that everyone can benefit from therapy—whether they are seeking stress management, navigating life transitions, or striving to build resilience and personal growth.
