Lynsey Reiss is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who believes that change is fundamental to who we are as human beings, and sometimes the changes we need to make are difficult and overwhelming. Her overall approach is humanistic, as she believes the client is the expert of their life experiences, and they will be leading the therapeutic journey. She believes therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and client, and finds it important to meet the client wherever they are in their journey and support them to achieve their desired goals.
Lynsey has experience working with clients who have mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, and adjustment disorders. She has been practicing since 2017 and has primarily worked with clients who have addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Lynsey has experience working with couples. She also helps those who may struggle with problems of self-esteem, loss, work/life balance, and stress management. Lynsey enjoys working with adult individuals of all backgrounds, abilities, and is LGBTQIA+ friendly. She also utilizes a multicultural approach in counseling, as individual experiences, cultural dynamics, and worldviews are important to understanding how best to proceed with therapeutic interventions and treatment.
In addition to an overall humanistic, strengths-based approach, Lynsey also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Living Therapy, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness practices, and harm reduction techniques and interventions. In working with couples, she utilizes techniques and interventions from The Gottman Method, Nonviolent Communication, Emotional Focused Therapy, and attachment theory. Lynsey’s goal as a counselor is to work with the client on identifying goals, building a therapeutic relationship, and developing a therapeutic approach that is tailored to their needs. She strives to make the therapeutic environment a safe space where clients can learn, grow, and feel good about themselves.
Lynsey completed her Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling Psychology at Delaware Valley University. She is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) and holds certification in Level 1 Rational Living Therapy (RLT).
